Course Outline

The Certificate III in Animal Care Services allows for specialisation in 'pet grooming', providing a sound background knowledge and benchmark certification for those wanting to be self-employed or work in the grooming industry*. Outcomes from this course offer a broad range of roles in animal care facilities and services, including boarding and day care, as carers and pet grooming professionals. The course electives focus on grooming, bathing, skin/coat care and sourcing and providing information. This is an ideal qualification for those wanting to learn on the job.

*Placement in this course requires you to be in a grooming salon at least two full days per week or have exposure to a large number of various breeds and crossbreeds requiring a clip/groom. This course will suit someone working as a trainee in a salon where you are supported by an experienced groomer or as a self employed professional. You will be required to attend classes one day per week.

Entry requirements

There are no entry requirements for this unit of competency. Some experience with handling animals would be advantageous. This course meets the requirements for international students wanting to study in Australia and as a requirement of entry you must hold an International English Language Testing System (IELTS) score of 5.5 and be 18 years of age or over.
